Spain Updates Immigration Law for 2025

Spain will introduce changes to its Immigration Law Regulation in 2025, focusing on three areas: training, employment, and family. The new measures aim to make the process clearer and simpler for both migrants and employers.

Main areas of change

Educación 

• Extended permits for students: Study permits will last for the entire course duration, eliminating the need for annual renewals.
• Transition to employment: Graduates will be able to quickly apply for work permits and start their careers right after finishing their studies.
• More legal security: the changes allow for more legal certainty around the types of studies and institutions that qualify for permits.

Work

• Simplified hiring: Employers will have clearer guidelines and reduced paperwork when hiring from abroad.
• Seasonal employment protection: Seasonal workers will benefit from stronger legal protections and simplified hiring processes.

Family

• Easier family reunification: The requirements to bring family to Spain will become more flexible and it’ll be easier to demonstrate capacity to financially support family members.
• New statute for relatives of Spanish citizens: This new framework provides additional legal support and simplifies immigration processes for relatives of Spanish nationals.
