EU Talent Pool: what should member states expect?

As of July 16, a new decree allows for online visa applications through the france-visas.gouv.fr website.

What’s changing?

Currently, visa applications for France can’t be completed entirely online. Applicants must print their forms from the France-Visas website and take them, along with supporting documents, to a consular office or partner company.

The new decree introduces systems for the digital collection of personal data, which should simplify this process significantly. Personal data can be stored for up to five years, making the process easier for frequent applicants who regularly apply for the same type of visa.

This move towards digital is also expected to benefit partner businesses and organizations that assist with visa applications, resulting in generally smoother and quicker visa processing.

Many have advocated for more online processing and simpler renewals, especially for those seeking six-month visas annually. While the effect of these changes is still to be seen, they are a positive signal for employers looking to hire foreign talent in France.
